serendipti's Diaryland Diary 7:28 p.m. - Monday, Sept. 06, 2004 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- wrong field? just had a "why am I (becoming) a doctor" moment, on a break from biochem, as I read this poem by Martin Espada: ...oh, and before i begin to type it, I am using the kaplan biochem book to wedge the pages of the poetry book open wide...and I thought to myself....well, at least you (kaplan bichem book) are good for *something* useful....(and yes, I am *still* on biochem, as so pointedly exclaimed by Sheila earlier today...nalayak) here is the poem: The Mexican Cabdriver Poem for his Wife, Who has Left Him We were sitting in traffic on the Brooklyn Bridge so I asked the poets in the backseat of my cab to write a poem for you They asked if you are like the moon or the trees I said no, she is like this bridge when there is so much traffic I have time to watch the boats on the river. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
